Army Agniveer Recruitment: How the Selection Works

The Army Agniveer selection process happens in two simple steps Phase 1 (Online Test) and Phase 2 (Recruitment Rally). Here’s how it works:

Phase 1: Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE)

  • Exam Name: Common Entrance Examination (CEE)
  • When? Starting June 2025
  • How? Online (Computer-Based Test)
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice (MCQs)
  • Number of Questions: 50 or 100 (depends on the category you apply for)
  • Time: 60 or 120 minutes (varies based on your application)
  • Negative Marking: Yes, 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
  • Score Adjustment: Your final score will be adjusted (normalized) to make it fair for all candidates, as difficulty levels may vary across different test sessions.

After clearing Phase 1, you’ll move to Phase 2 (Recruitment Rally), conducted by Army Recruitment Offices (AROs) at designated rally grounds.

Phase II (Recruitment Rally)

Based on the number of job openings, candidates who score above the cutoff in the written exam will be shortlisted. The roll numbers of selected candidates will be posted on the Join Indian Army website. These candidates will get a second admit card to continue with the remaining steps of the recruitment rally as per the ARO’s schedule.

Here’s what happens in Phase II:

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Candidates must pass basic fitness tasks like running, push-ups, and other exercises.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

At the rally site, height, weight, and chest measurements will be checked as per Army standards for each region and category. If you have documents for any relaxation (like caste/region-based), bring them for verification.

Adaptability Test

If you clear PFT and PMT, you’ll take an Adaptability Test on a tablet or mobile phone. This test checks if you can adjust to Army life. There’s no fixed syllabus—just answer honestly. If you pass, you move to the medical test. If not, your recruitment process ends here.

Medical Examination

  1. Initial Check-Up:
    • Done by Army doctors at the rally site.
    • If declared unfit, you can request a review at a nearby Military Hospital (MH), Base Hospital (BH), or Command Hospital (CH).
    • You’ll get the date and location via email/SMS.
  2. Final Decision:
    • The Army doctors’ decision is final no appeals or re-reviews after the medical review.
    • Passing the medical test doesn’t guarantee a job.
  3. Important Tips:
    • Get a pre-checkup before coming (check for flat feet, vision issues, wax in ears, etc.).
    • Contact lenses are not allowed use glasses if needed.
    • If there’s a 9-month gap between the rally medical test and final enrollment, you’ll be tested again. If unfit this time, you won’t be recruited.
